This day in travel history

[model of hot air balloon via wikipedia]

The first manned flight of a hot air balloon was on November 21, 1783.  Two brothers,  Joseph Michel and Jacques Etienne Montgolfier, used the smoke from a fire to blow hot air into a silk bag, which was attached to a basket.

Celebrate this day in travel history by listening to The Fifth Dimension album "Up Up and Away".   Have a picnic in your living room and dream of beautiful balloons.
